Does anybody hear her?

Does anybody hear her?

I recently listened to and watched a video by Casting Crowns titled above. It was about a girl lost, lonely and ultimatly left to her own devices in life. Her heartbreak was so great she eventually committed suicide.

It hit home for me.

There are so many broken people out there in this kind of pain, how do we touch them all, or even a needful few? They have given up hope, given up caring, given up their dreams, and they live in their wounds. Ultimatly they die, first inside and then, if not helped, outside as well. What can we do?

Jesus Christ never gave up on hope, never let heartbreak destroy Him or move Him from God. He never gave up on us, ultimately dieing in our stead. And if we follow Him, we should not give up on each other either. Sometimes all that is needed is just that kind word at the right time that can do so much. God always knows what is needed, and what will be heeded to as well.

My tears surprised me as this was a fictional enactment, but again, the reality hit home. This is the true reality of the lives of too many of our young people, and the desparate end of too many of our older people as well. People are NOT discards in some trashbin of life. They are jewels each precious, even under the tarnish and rust of life in this world. Their heart’s cry can be heard in every walk of life, in any age group, in any place the love of God shines dim. We are to be light in the darkness, the candle on the hilltop.

For many of them that will be the only light they will see.

Jim, my ministry partner, works on behalf of the homeless. I run ministry sites to get the truth into the hands of the needy and the searching. We all should be part of the body of Christ working to make it whole and healthy. To find the lost, to heal the hurting, to save those who have given up. Or to be more clear, be the doorway for God to do those things, because it is not us, but rather Him.

My tears are for the lost and my heart rejoices for those who find their way home. I wish to be a part of that.

What is your calling? What is your mantle given to you by God? Are you doing it? Are you really dedicated to a life that embraces your calling? We need you — they need you. Now. Heed the call. Yes it will be a life of sacrifice and you won’t always see the good God does through you. There will be times you will question your ability to meet the need, or stay the course or even your faith at times. But if you can save one life for Christ it is all worth it. Pray you are man or woman enough to heed the call.

The world is broken and we have been called to be the hands that God uses to fix it. Remember it is not us, but Him.

Be blessed, be loved and be at peace,

Jonathan
